- U.S. Envoy to Fiji Named
President Reagan has named Carl Dillery to be the United States Ambassador to Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, Tuvalu and the Republic of Kiribati, the White House announced today. He will replace Fred J. Eckert. Mr. Dillery, a career Foreign Service officer, has previously served in Brussels, London and Nicosia. Since 1982 he has been director of the State Department's Office of United Nations Political Affairs.
- New hospital opens in Scott County
Staff at Scott County Hospital in southwest Kansas are settling in to their new facility this week.
The Garden City Telegram reports the facility was built with a $24 million bond issue voters approved in September 2009. The facility's design is atypical and includes earth-tone curving corridors connecting 20 acute care beds, two operating rooms, two delivery rooms, 30 exam rooms, and areas for rehabilitation, imaging, women's care and an outpatient clinic.
